AGARTALA, Feb 3 (TIWN): Public continue to question why, Biplab Deb remained silent over BJP MLA Mimi Majumder’s irresponsible post on Minister N.C. Debbarma’s fake death news. Reacting over BJP MLA Mimi Majumder’s post of Minister N.C.Debbarma’s death’s fake news, BJP MLA Sudip Barman has called her a “Senseless Creature” and lacks basic sense. Sudip Barman said, “Just think, if you (Journalists) had posted something like this, then already you would have been arrested, FIRs would have been lodged. I would say, the same should be done against her.......... but again, what to say about such senseless creatures ? The post was not yet deleted”. Tipra Motha chief Pradyot Manikya also appealed people not to believe in fake news. Netizens trolled BJP MLA Mimi Majumder and other leaders for spreading ‘fake news’.
Delhi’s two women journalists were arrested from Assam after they posted alleged communal violence in the state and such arrests are not new under Biplab Deb Govt. Common men have been harassed at a larger scale in Tripura for social media posts under Biplab Deb Govt but when his own party MLA had spread fake news, there was no action, no apology even made by the MLA amid irresponsible posts on Facebook.
On Wednesday, tension triggered in the state after BJP MLA Mimi Majumder announced that Minister N.C.Debbarma is no more and she said that she is deeply shocked with the unexpected news of the Minister’s death. Immediately the post turned viral and many BJP kariyakartas shared the same news on social media. BJP’s many leaders did the same but when investigated, it was known that the information was completely fake, and N.C.Debbarma is stable.
“I don’t know who spread the news but this is totally fake news. My father’s health is much better and he will be released by tomorrow”, N.C.Debbarma’s daughter said.
Netizens mocked the State Govt and Police who always target social media users over fake news, but are now silent after such irresponsible work was done by the BJP MLA and leaders.
