AGARTALA, Dec 29 (TIWN): Rs 9 lakhs was allocated to construct a 10/20 feet storeroom for Forest Department in Gandachhara sub-division, but the construction work is allegedly progressing with low-quality sand and by using old used bricks.
An uproar was noticed among locals against the forest department, and the locals demanded appropriate action after proper investigation.
Reportedly, Niranjan Debnath, Range Officer of Gandachhara Sub-Divisional Forest Department was appointed for the construction work. But the first allegation was raised that no construction engineer was hired to construct the building and without consulting with any engineer the construction was started 15 days ago. The second allegation is raised that the bricks and concrete are used from the old building.
When asked about the substandard work, Niranjan Debnath (Construction officer and Range Officer of Gandachhara Forest Department), said that the higher authorities have no permission to say anything before the camera.
