AGARTALA, Nov 23 (TIWN): In various places of Tripura common people are suffering due to extreme shortage of drinking water but the government has no tendency to make arrangements for drinking water and to expand the connections.
Due to lack of drinking water, local people blocked the Dharmanagar-Kailashahar road in Chinibagan area of Kailasahar today.
Although there are a few ring wells in the area, all of them have been useless for a long time. The villagers several times informed the administration verbally and in writing but, despite informing to the administration, no step was taken. Reportedly, for the past few months, the DWS has been providing drinking water in the area once in a day, though the amount of water is very little. But suddenly since past three months, the department stopped providing water, resulting there is an acute shortage of drinking water noticed in the area.
Centering this on Tuesday angst locals blocked the road.
Kailasahar PS Police and TSR forces rushed to the blockade area. Later the locals withdrew the blockade with an assurance to get drinking water twice a day from the DWS department.
