AGARTALA, Nov 23 (TIWN): Trinamool Congress has thrown an open challenge to the BJP to sack MLA Sudip Roy Barman from the party. The statement came after Sudip Barman held a press meet today, condemning the violence going on in the state. Trinamool has welcomed the statement from the MLA. Reacting over Sudip Barman's press conference where he blasted Biplab Deb Govt for extreme violence in state, Minister Bratya Basu said, “We thank the MLA for his neutral statement amid party barriers. The level of ongoing violence in Tripura is the rarest one. Even after the Supreme Court’s warning, no step was taken to prevent violence. Our Contempt of Court case’s hearing is going on and we believe the Court will give us justice. Today the senior politician cum Sudip Barman’s statement is welcome which has proven that our allegation on Tripura BJP's violence is a fact".
Bratya Basu further asked BJP to terminate Barman if it has courage, to signify how BJP is not giving importance to such a popular leader but the party at the same time does not have guts to terminate him as the allegation over violence is fact.
Sudip Barman was terminated from the Ministry in 2019 after he raised questions over law and order, followed by a Govt Doctor being brutally beaten up inside the IGM hospital.
