AGARTALA, Nov 22 (TIWN): Supreme Court of India has accepted Trinamool Congress’s petition on ‘Contempt of Court’ over Tripura Violence.
The petition was filed as even after the Supreme Court’s verdict, Tripura Police and Tripura Home Dept did not take any action to control the violence.
TMC reportedly have listed all violent attack incidents with evidence and to be placed before the Court.
The hearing in the case will be tomorrow. TMC General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee said that TMC is hopeful to get justice.
The Supreme Court earlier warned Tripura Govt and Police to ensure free and fair polls in Tripura and to control the violence. But by this time, huge numbers of violence took place in the state and also journalists were attacked brutally along with the opposition. In action, TMC has moved the Supreme Court.
Abhishek Banerjee said, “We know how to bring a Dictator Govt in line. If this is the condition of Tripura only after 3 years of BJP rule, what will happen after 10 years if BJP continues ruling the state?”
