AGARTALA, Nov 20 (TIWN): Tripura Opposition leader, former CM Manik Sarkar on Saturday criticized a portion of media which are still backing the BJP Party and the Govt when major portion of journalists are being attacked in severe means. Taking a dig at pro-BJP media persons amid increasing tortures on journalists in Tripura, Manik Sarkar said on Saturday, “A Very small portion of surrendered media persons are spared from BJP Party and Govt led attacks. The journalists are attacked in various means. Even, they are facing physical attacks too. Constitution has turned invalid and amid such a situation, economic condition is miserable. I would say, people have not seen such a condition of Tripura in last 50 years. Election Commission is failed, Police Dept is failed. Everywhere unthinkable conditions are hovering".

“BJP is trying to snatch public right to cast votes but the Election Commission as usually has failed to take a control over the “Dushwasan” of the BJP. Over 5 lakhs voters are in AMC but people have lost their democratic right to cast votes. People’s voices had been suppressed since the beginning. Oppositions to journalists, severe attacks have brought on them. The structure of democracy is ruined”, said Sarkar.

Left Front held a massive rally in Agartala city keeping the Municipal Election ahead. Thousands of people participated in the rally carrying red flags in their hands.

The CPI-M is the major opposition party in Tripura now, although in the last ADC Poll it received a major setback.

In this Municipal poll. BJP has won around 34% seats uncontested and massive violence are reported in the state centering the poll. Also Govt’s nexus with alleged pre-poll rigging, intimidation of opposition was exposed in a video where a Govt vehicle was seen removing opposition flags. In this poll, VVPAT and CCTV cameras allegedly will not be used and TMC has moved the Supreme Court against it.

CPI-M has slammed the BJP Govt for not allowing free and fair poll, challenging the BJP Govt to allow free and fair poll in a single seat and they will see BJP will undergo ‘jamanat jabt’.
