AGARTALA, Nov 19 (TIWN): The Bridge over the Rangapani River in Nidan Kobra area of Ward No. 3 of Jagai Bari ADC Village in Jampuijala Block has turned into a death trap. Soil on both sides the bridge is washed away and now the bridge is in an unstable state. The villagers are living in fear as the bridge could fall into the river at any time and thousands of people are crossing the road with life risk.

It is known that while crossing on the bridge often minor accidents occur, resulting in many receive minor, major injuries. The villagers have taken up the issue to the local administration but no initiative has been taken to repair the road.

Reportedly, MLA Birendra Kishore Debbarma prior election said the deplorable bridge will be repaired but after winning the MLA did not yet visit the area and not taken initiative to repair the damage portion.

The locals demanded that the MLA should discuss with the BDO of Jampuijala RD block and to take initiative to fix the road on both sides of the bridge. Otherwise, the people of the village will soon go for protest and blockade the Promodnagar Jampuijala road.

Now, it is to be seen what initiative the concerned department will take to repair both sides of the bridge.
