AGARTALA, Nov 15 (TIWN): The non-teaching staffs of Tripura Central University on Monday gheraoed Vice Chancellor and Finance Officer's office in demand of giving then financial benifit under central government's Equal work for Equal pay scheme. The non-teaching staffs on this agitation alleged that the Finance Officer of TU is not only approving their demand despite of having all the legal permissions from UGC and Central, but he's harassing them too by saying their jobs will be snatched.
While talking to media, one agitator said, "On 4th September of 2019 the Central Government has passed this scheme of Equal work for Equal pay and under this scheme we deserve the financial benifit too. After this scheme was passed, we got the approval letter from UGC also and the Finance committee from Delhi itself sanctioned it. But when we came to the then University Vice Chancellor, he made us wait giving the excuse of Covid pandemic."
"Now that the pandemic is over and every other work of the University is running smoothly, why the university authority is not responding to this matter? If we ask Finance Officer, he only says govt is giving them no money, the university is running out of cash. He further says that our jobs will be snatched by the govt soon." He further added.
The non-teaching staffs demanded immediate action on this matter by the TU higher authority otherwise they will go for bigger movements, said the agitating staffs.
