AGARTALA, Nov 15 (TIWN): Tripura CPI-M State Secretary Jitendra Choudhury on Monday during Police Headquarter gherao programme slammed the DGP Tripura over the ongoing massive violence in the state and police’s zero role to control the hooligans. CPI-M party members today walked a rally and then gheraoed the police headquarter but DGP did not meet them. Jitendra Choudhury told SDPO Ramesh Yadav that the DGP has to meet the CPI-M leaders for 5 minutes and if he does not meet then Police Headquarter gherao to continue. However, SDPO assured that at night 8 PM the DGP can meet them as the meeting via video conferencing which is about crime related issues will end at that time.Jitendra Choudhury questioned the outcome of such long meetings over law and order as Tripura’s law and order has already collapsed and criminals are roaming free.
Nevertheless, CPI-M leaders agreed to meet the DGP after 8 PM but said the meeting has to be done.
Talking to the media, Jitendra Choudhury criticized DGP V.S. Yadav for his total silence over the crimes ongoing in the state led by the ruling party goons.
Choudhury also blasted on the DGP’s attitude of not meeting the opposition.
Then, Jitendra Choudhury said the DGP has covered his eyes with black clothes and locked his ears too.
“What kind of meeting is it ? Might be the DGP is holding a meeting to save criminals”, added Choudhury.
