BJP’s attack on Democracy, Media : Two Delhi women journalists booked in Tripura, detained in Assam based on Tripura Viswa Hindu Parishad’s complaint

AGARTALA, Nov 15 (TIWN): Journalists continue to be treated as criminals in BJP ruled states across India. Attacking journalists and treating journalists as criminals under the BJP Govt in Tripura is although not a new trend, but now other states’ journalists visiting Tripura are facing similar consequences. Monday morning national newspaper front pages are covering Tripura news not for a good reason but detention of two women journalists in Assam after an FIR was lodged in Tripura against them by Viswa Hindu Parishad member. Based on Viswa Hindu Parishad's complaint police turned proactive to arrest both the journalists ---  1) Samriddhi K.Sakunia and 2) Swarnna Jha .As per the details, the two young journalists Samriddhi K.Sakunia and Swarnna Jha who are employees of HW News Channel network were detained in Karimganj, Assam.

The Viswa Hindu Parishad group which itself is prime accused for organizing communal violence in Tripura’s various parts did not come under police action yet but based the accused group member's complaint against the two reporters for ‘criminal conspiracy’ BJP ruled Assam Govt took the action. 

The two journalists were returning from Tripura to their own land and were detained.

Telegraph reported that both the journalists will be brought to Tripura for further questioning.

Tripura’s dictator regime is being criticized nationwide and recently over hundreds of cases with UAPA charges have been taken by the Police here over social media posts and statements on Tripura violence.

Moreover, Tripura’s deteriorating law and order is now under Supreme Court’s observation centering the Municipal poll.
