AGARTALA, Nov 12 (TIWN): Based on secret information, Amarpur forest Department officials raided at Ampi Daspara area on Thursday and recovered 40-45feet timber.
The raid was conducted under the leadership of Amarpur Patrol Officer Prasenjit Banik. The seized timber amounts market value would be over Rs 40,000.
The officials successfully seized the timber but failed to arrest the forest pirates as after noticing the Patrolling officer the forest pirates reportedly escaped from the spot.
After the operation, Patrolling Officer Prasenjit Banik said that the forest pirates are carrying out such deforestation activities in Ampi area as the area is far from Amarpur.
