AGARTALA, December 26 (TIWN): A seminar held today at Agartala Rabindra Bhawan to mark the 70th Janashikha Dibas. Tripura MP Jitendra Chowdhury inaugurated the seminar. The historic 70th Janashikha Divas to be observed on December 27 across the state. The observing committee will organize the main program at Agartala Rabindra Bhawan on the very day. Beside a four day long programme will be staged across the state to mark the day.
Inaugurating the seminar today at Rabindra Bhawan Jitendra Chowdhury said that Tripura royal regime didn’t make any contribution in the expansion and consolidation of education system in the state during their regime. the monarchs of Tripura chose to keep education limited within the castle walls, said Jitendra Chowdhury. The Manikya monarchs oppressed leaders of the Jana Siksha Andolan in 1945 for raising demands of education for all and tried to keep the people illiterate and stopping their development, he stated.
Later the Jana Siksha Andolan of Sudhanya Debbarma, Dasharath Debbarma, Aghore Debbarma has brought the education system in the state and gave its shape, Mr. Chowdhury added.
However the main program of the 70th Janashikha Divas will be held on December 27 at Agartala Rabindra Bhawan.
