AGARTALA, Nov 10 (TIWN): The 10323 teachers have kicked off a massive protest in Agartala on Wednesday reminding the BJP-IPFT led State Govt about pre-election promises given to the terminated teachers. A deputation was placed to the Education Director Chandni Chandran seeking replies to certain queries and asked what solution was planned for terminated teachers' livelihoods. Talking to media, JMC Joint convener Ajay Debbarma said, “Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma who is also the chairman of NEDA asked the voters not to vote for BJP if promises are not fulfilled before 2019 Lok Sabha election. But now after 43 months of the Govt formation, why have not these promises been fulfilled. I want to ask the Govt through the media when it will fulfill its promise. It was promised to bring an amendment for the permanent solution of the 10323 teachers”.

Talking to the media, JMC member Kamal Deb said, “Our employment cards have been seized by the Govt and we are unable to face any interview. Today the death toll has risen to 112 but the Govt has not resolved our matter. If the Govt does not keep its promise soon, JMC’s protests will be expanded”.

‘Amra 10323’ organization leader Dalia Das said, “The Govt was formed almost 4 years ago. There are massive loan burdens on us and the Govt even after promising to solve our problems is silent over our problems. Teachers are dying, becoming ill. Our children’s education almost stopped. Only 13 months remained for the next Assembly Poll but the Govt has no concern. So many teachers committed suicide, many died without treatment. The Govt is just cheating us and as a result 112 families are devastated with 112 persons dead among us. We demand the Govt should take responsibility of the 112 families and also save our lives”.
