AGARTALA, Nov 10 (TIWN): Centering the Municipal poll, violent attacks took place on various opposition party candidates in Tripura, whereas the Election Commission has miserably failed to control the lawless situation and the police department remained consistently paralyzed. Reacting over the violent attacks on the opposition parties which forced CPI-M’s many candidates to withdraw nominations, CPI-M State Secretary Jitendra Choudhury has condemned the role played by the State Election Commission and State Police Department. He said, “CPI-M is not a party of hooligans and that’s the reason we have shown enough tolerance since 2018, but although we did our part the State administration has miserably failed to give minimum protection to the people''.
“We did not seek any favour from the Police or the State Election Commission but just requested them to make sure that no hooligan should roam freely and nobody should be attacked, but as the Commission and Police both have failed to protect the rights of the common men and so tomorrow what will happen we do not know. If the hooligans are not controlled then people have to act upon.............”, said Jitendra Choudhury.
