Tripura Pre-Poll Violence : BJP Attacked in Trinamool Congress Candidate's home threatening her to Withdraw Nomination, Candidate's son Beaten up at Badharghat

AGARTALA, Nov 8 (TIWN): Since nomination submission date was announced for Tripura Municipal polls, BJP has been continuing its statewide attacks on the opposition party candidates. After winning hundred seats uncontested, now BJP continues its pressure, threats to the candidates to withdraw nominations. Today, BJP Attacked in Swapna Mallik, TMC candidate of 38 number ward, AMC. The BJP workers allegedly had threatened her to withdraw nomination papers by 3 pm, today. Also her son was beaten up severely by the miscreants. Some of the attackers were identified by candidate Swapna Mallik.

Talking to the media, she said, "I was in my home at around 12.30 pm. Suddenly 25 to 30 youths rushed to my home and started threatening me to withdraw nominations. They were slamming me with slang words. I told them that I am not going to withdraw my nomination and they said if today nomination is not withdrawn then the consequence will not be good for me".  

"Then they destroyed flags and festoons in my home and they then attacked my son also. He has been threatened that he would not be allowed to go to the shop and to be murdered if I do not withdraw nominations. I never saw such violence in my entire life", she said.

She further added that all the goons are of local BJP MLA Mimi Majumder. One of the BJP workers name was uttered by her as Biplab Dey.

The candidate also alleged that they entered her room and looted everything including party flags.

So far no arrest was made even after lodging a complaint. Police visited the house and took note of the incident.
