AGARTALA, Nov 4 (TIWN): Since the early morning of Diwali, devotees have rushed to Kali temples across Tripura to offer prayers to Goddess Kali.
In Agartala Indranagar Kali Bari, Udaipur Matabari, Kamalasagar Kasba and in North Tripura and other Districts Kali puja was celebrated amid lakhs of devotees gathering.
In most of the years, Diwali Puja and Kali Puja fall on the same day but in some years Kali Puja might fall one day before Diwali Puja. For Kali Puja, the day when Amavasya prevails during midnight is considered while for Lakshmi Puja the day when Amavasya prevails during Pradosh is considered.
In the daytime, people are buying "diya" or "lights" to illuminate their homes. Some people use decorated light candles, some decorated diya or clay lamps, and other decorative lights and put them in their windows for the festival.
Traditionally 'earthen lamps' with cotton wicks and oil to light up the dark night were used by the peoples but as people moved towards the modernity and in temptation of saving time, people generally opt for Chinese lights to decorate and lighted their houses.
Hundreds of fire crackers were lightened in the Police reserve of Drop Gate. People thronged into the reserve to watch the crackers.
"Joy Ma Kali Santander Sangha '' (Indranagar) members held a rally on Kali Puja, collecting water for Puja from Laxmi Narayan Bari Lake.
Like every year on Wednesday, on the auspicious occasion of Diwali or Kali puja, a total 108 of girl-children joined in that rally from Indira Nagar Kalibari premise.
