AGARTALA, Oct 3 (TIWN): One day ahead of Tripura High Court’s next hearing on September 8 incident related case when BJP members had vandalized Agartala city’s various offices including PB24 media house, BJP’s one hooligan and a marked political criminal Raghu Lodh was produced before the Court after Crime Branch arrested him. The arrest took place 25 days after the actual incident. Raghu Lodh was also involved in another violence which took place recently in MBB College but in the October 8 incident, his face was exposed in clear footages as BJP members held the attack in broad daylight. So far only 1 person has been arrested.
Recently Press Council of India also had issued notice to the State Police chief and also Chief Secretary over the incident of September 8.
On that day a total 3 media houses were vandalized by miscreants across Tripura.
As no arrest had been taken place by Tripura Police and no action was taken by Crime Branch of Tripura to whom the PB24 media house vandalism case was handed over even after having clear evidence of September 8 violence, a PIL was filed in the High Court by an Advocate Haripada Das Case No- 16/2021. In this regard, the High Court has issued a notice to Tripura Govt seeking replies by 4th October.
The demand of the PIL was to set up a SIT to investigate the case under the chairmanship of a retired or existing judge. The case was heard by Chief Justice Akil Kureshi and Justice S. Chattopadhyay on September 20 and the next hearing on October 4 that is tomorrow.
