AGARTALA, Sep 24 (TIWN): On a shocking note, few miscreants poured poison into the Rangapaniya river. On Friday, people from the surrounding area came to the river and saw a lot of dead fish floating in the river. Immediately the locals realized that someone has poisoned the river water with an ill motive.
As soon as the news spread around, the crowd gathered in the place. According to the locals, miscreants pour poison in the river after every monsoon for fishing. This time a large number of fishermen's ponds were submerged in the rains. As a result, large quantities of fish from thousands of ponds go into the river. If the miscreants had not applied poison, the small fishermen could have reared their families by fishing from the river all the year round. The locals alleged that year after year, after the rainy season, miscreants pour poison into the Rangapani river.
Locals have complained that the police have not been able to catch the culprits till date. The villagers witnessed many such incidents. It is alleged that the miscreants applied poison in the middle of the night and caught all the big fish of the river and sold them in the big markets of Agartala.
