AGARTALA, Seo 18 (TIWN): On 15th September a 35 years old man Jamal Hossain died in Sonamura custody after being beaten brutally by Police. Reacting on the custodial death of Jamal Hossain, said that it’s a custodial violence, for which the Police administration should take action against the accused. Also said the investigation should not be done under magistrate stage as almost many cases under magistrate stage could be hushed.
In that regard, the Human Rights Organization has demanded a proper investigation should be done against the custodial death of a young man, also demanded justice and 5 lakhs compensation to the victim’s family from State Govt.
Despite demise Jamal’s family filing complaint at Sonamura PS against his death, the Police have not registered case, said Advocate Purush Roy Barman. Added to it he said that while miscreants vandalised opposition party’s houses and media house Police plays the role of silent spectator and oppositely Police after detaining youths killing after brutally beaten inside custody.
According to law a person is innocent until the guilt is proven, physical and mental torture after taken an accused to custody is illegitimate, said Barman and if State Govt could not come forward then the case will be raised to HC.
