BJP Sadar District Committee visits Manik Dey, highlights current issues

Agartala, Dec 22 (TIWN): A 6-member delegation of Bharatiya Janata Party, Sadar District Committee headed by the president Ratan Ghosh visited Transport Minister Manik Dey and highlighted different current issues of the state at Civil Secretariat, here today. The delegates also placed a memorandum with 7-point charter of demands.

During the visit, the representatives informed to the Minister that in course of connectivity, rail services are remained closed except merely Agartala-Karimganj train due to mega block works since October 1. The air services are also being disrupted due to shortage of flights and black-marketing of air tickets. As a result, the common people especially the patients in critical condition have been facing a challenging situation for travelling to outside of the state even in emergency, they added.

In the memorandum submitted to Minister Manik Dey, the delegates mentioned 7-point charter of demands- the Transport Department should arrange additional buses in Agartala-Guwahati route. The fares for buses and auto-rickshaws should be reduced in the state as prices of petrol and diesel cut down in a recent past. Black-marketing of air ticket must be dropped at zero.

Besides, they demanded to repair the buses, which are lying in poor condition under central scheme immediately and to utilize them on roads accordingly. The exact fare copies defined by the state government should be kept in every passenger vehicle. Auto-rickshaw permits should be distributed among the appropriate persons in a proper way and to run the TRTC buses again.

Admitting the logicality of the demands on current issues of the state, Minister Manik Dey assured to take proper step to fulfill their demands shortly.
