AGARTALA, Aug 29 (TIWN): Crime against Women in spike in Tripura. A dowry death of a housewife was reported in Mohanpur.

Allegation raised that her husband has killed her over dowry demands.

The killed housewife has been identified as Devika Saha.

Family sources said, Devika was married socially with Kajal Modak, a resident of Sidai Mohanpur Hospital Chowmuhani 3 years ago. But soon after her marriage, her husband Kajol started torturing Devika physically asking her to bring money from her father. 

On last Wednesday the husband brutally beaten up Debika with wooden pile on her head in drunken state. Later, she was taken to Mohanpur Hospital. Noticing her critical condition, she was referred to GBP Hospital but the housewife left her last breath today.

The housewife left her 2 years old daughter behind.  Kajal Modak has been detained by police.
