Housewife sets herself on fire, dies: Case of domestic violence filed against husband and in-laws

AGARTALA, Aug 25 (TIWN): In a pathetic incident, one housewife died after setting herself on fire. Her family members alleged that, out of husband's torture and domestic violence the victim took this step. The incident occurred at Shantir bazar on Tuesday. The victim is identified as Rupali Majumder.
Reportedly, the victim Rupali Majumder got married to Ashish Majumder, resident of Shantir bazar area few years ago. After 3-4 months of marriage her husband and in-laws started physically and mentally torturing her on daily basis, alleged victim's sister. On Tuesday night she was been physically assaulted by her in-laws and out of depression the victim took the step of setting her on fire.
The victim was brought to Shantir Bazar hospital and later referred to GB. On Wednesday morning, unfortunately the house wife succumbed to death.
A case has been filed against her husband and in-laws in Baikhora PS. The police Arrested three people in the case and started investigating. The victim's family members sought justice.
