AGARTALA, Aug 24 (TIWN): Atharomura dense forest area has been getting empty due to rampant smuggling.
Sources said, the forest pirates have been cutting down many expensive trees from the dense forest of Athamura and have been smuggling for a long time with the help of some forest dept workers in broad daylight. As a result, the dense forests of Atharomura hills are becoming empty due to forest bandits with the help of forest workers and it is alleged the Forest Department employees sometimes carry out raids against the bandits but just as a show off.
The smugglers are cutting down trees from the dense forests of Atharomura hills including Jum Bari, Uttar Maharani, 39 miles, and 43 miles in Krishnapur area.
