AGARTALA, Aug 21 (TIWN): In a major blow for the Tripura Congress, Party President Pijush Biswas has announced his resignation from his post. On Saturday, calling a press conference, Pijush Biswas said so in Agartala. He announced that for now he is taking retirement from Politics and also sent his resignation from the President post to Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi. Biswas said, "I am thankful that National Congress rewarded me with the President post and in the last 2 years I have received tremendous support from Congress party members, but due to my personal reasons, I have decided to quit the post now". On being asked by media, whether there is any chance that he may join the newly emerging Trinamool party, Pijush Biswas said that the people who are spreading rumours that Pijush Biswas is joining Trinamool are talking out of senses.
"It is very tough for me to resign from the post but it is my ultimate decision..........", said Pijush Biswas to the media.
Noteworthy, in the last two years, two State Presidents of Tripura Congress have resigned. First President was Pradyot Manikya to resign from the party and now in a major setback for the Congress, Pijush Biswas has also resigned who was also a legal cell asset for the party and if he joins any party, for being an learned advocate he will be an asset for it. Recently he won a legal battle against BJP led Tripura Govt and got bails for I-PAC team members
Pijush Biswas today said, for now he is taking retirement from the party and to focus on his career in Law.
