AGARTALA, December 20 (TIWN): In golden age of Tripura under Manik Sarkar's extra-ordinary leadership, only the corrupt gets rewarded as CM prefers scamsters like BDO Bimal than honest people in his close circles.In a new twist of Rs. 50 crore MGNREGA multicrore scam of Bishalgarh RD Block, one of the accused namely Chayan Nandi, Technical Assistant who is absconding till now posted on regular basis at Kumarghat. It is to be mentioned here that earlier, Chayan Nandi was a fixed pay employee. It is alleged that Chayan Nandi has embezzled around Rs. 1 core in the Rs. 50 crore MGNREGA multicrore scam of Bishalgarh RD Block. It has been since three months that the Bishalgarh RD Block MGNREGA scam came under the limelight, and till today not more than nine accused has been arrested amongst 12 FIR named, with the scamster Bimal Chakroborty surrendered before the court earlier. And with which the Police seems to have owned a “slow & steady” policy in the name of investigation.Even after the passage of three months that the Bishalgarh RD Block MRNREGA scam had been exposed, the police failed to arrest all the accused persons against whom the FIR has been lodged with the Bishalgarh Police Station.

At first the police under the immense pressure from the opposition party of the state and media, begins their slow and steady race and framed as many as drama in the name of investigation, and amidst the scamster Bimal Chakroborty, (brother of DYFI state Secretary Amal Chakraborty) surrendered himself with the court during the eve of Diwali. Later the police taking Bimal into their custody made a dramatic raid into his house but as expected police could not find any documents.

Sources claimed that, during the time of the raid some documents related to the multicrore  scam of MGNREGA of Bishalgarh RD Block was seized by police but due to high level political influence the  police were trying to hide all the evidences. And at last as part of their slow and steady race policy the police started arresting the accused persons one after another. The police were showing unwillingness to detain Bimal Chakraborty as he is the younger brother of Amal Chakraborty, the State secretary of CPI(M) youth front DYFI, alleged congress earlier.

It is also mentionable here that the scamster Bimal Chakroborty might have a found his home behind the bar of police. However, but the police has shown no major performance in arresting the other 3 accused persons so far. Whereas, on the other Chief Minister Manik Sarkar earlier said that the state government has taken every legal steps against the accused involved in corruption. But to comment here, why legal steps are taking a longer period to arrest all the accused persons? Did corrupt officers absconded or taking comfort after looting the central’s fund?

As per the legal procedures, the police supposed to arrest all the accused persons involved in MGNREGA scam under Bishalgarh RD Block, after the FIR has been lodged against them. But the police making it no important seem to have washed their hand.
