Belonia: Police stopped CPI-M protest rally forcefully, arrested agitators

AGARTALA, Aug 9 (TIWN): Over the increasing prices of necessary commodities and petrol, diesel price hike, seven leftist organizations organized a rally in Belonia Sub-division. While the rally started from Belonia Sub-division Police stopped the CPIM activists and declared the rally was illegal.
Centering the obstruction tussle was generated among leftist activists and Police. Then police had arrested the activists from the spot citing violated Covid guidelines.
After the arrest a CPI-M senior leader said, “BJP organizes several rallies with huge gatherings in Belonia Sub-division but Police did not arrest any activists but it has stopped our rally”.
"In a Democratic country, Democracy is under attack..........", added the leader.
