AGARTALA, Aug 3 (TIWN): School students launched a protest in the second phase on Tuesday afternoon in front of the SDPO Office. The second phase of protest was held after Police brutality had injured many students when they were protesting before Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath's home in voice against 25% students who were declared "failed" by TBSE amid no examination was held. The demand of the students was "as no examination was held, so nobody should be deprived of promotion" to the upper classes. Moreover, many students alleged "partiality", "errors" by school authorities in sending previous school exams' marks to the board.
When the students were continuing their protest in a peaceful manner, police asked them to leave the place. Students said, unless the Education Minister would meet them, they would not leave the place.
The students also telephoned Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath to meet them but he did not talk to the students. Immediately, police started forceful arrests of the students and in the tussle many were injured.

Two girl students alleged that they were pushed by police to the ground. A girl student was found bleeding, injured critically after the whole incident.
In protest against police brutality, students gathered at SDPO Office in the afternoon seeking action against the police officials who have injured the students.
Earlier on January 27, 2021 police held another brutal attack on agitating 10323 teachers.
In the last few years many custodial deaths were also reported in Tripura. The increasing police brutality has turned a matter of concern under the Biplab deb Govt.
