AGARTALA / CHARILAM, June 1 (TIWN): Heavy raining since yesterday has caused havoc in various parts of the state. Whereas in cities, the rain has costed people by disrupting normal lives, in villages, crop damage and massive losses of the farmers were reported. In Sepahijala District's various parts lands were submerged with water due to flood like situation erupted there. Houses have gone under water and ponds or other water bodies are overflowing causing massive losses for the farmers. From Govt side, initial food arrangement was done. Asking a local about what help was offered by the Govt, she said, only "Chira" (rice flake) and "Gur" (Jaggery, a local sweet item) were given. However, the District Magistrate has visited the spot and checked the situation. People have sought State Govt's help and compensation for the losses.
Also many farmers' chickens have died and domestic animals lives are in trouble.
