AGARTALA, June 26 (TIWN): CPI-M Party has alleged that an unannounced emergency is going on in India under the Modi Govt.
Addressing media in an anti-farm bill protest in Agartala , CPI-M leader Pabitra Kar, "Today nobody can criticize the Govt. Even Twitter is facing such problems which are being criticized throughout the world. These farm bills were passed by misusing the Parliament and killing democracy just for the sake of corporate friends. Power dept has been privatized....What happened to Kashmir ? This is just an unofficial Emergency......against all these issues we have to continue our fight to restore democracy".
Tripura former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar on Saturday has asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take a lesson from the post Emergency period of Indira Gandhi. "If Narendra Modi thinks that by suppressing people's voices and attacking the media his Govt can function in the long run, it will not be the same. In future the consequence will be against him", said Sarkar.
"Indira Gandhi had converted the whole nation into a prison but then after the people were released from jail, the Congress Govt realized that the people's anger was swelling and a major defeat was received by Congress and history has scripted those chapters. But today under Narendra Modi free voice is almost suppressed and trying to buy MLAs, changing the constitution, bringing Black-Laws. So I will request Modi to take a lesson from the post Emergency period", said Sarkar.
A memorandum was sent to the President of India via Governor in this regard which was read out by GMP President Jitendra Choudhury. He slammed the Modi Govt for bringing "Black Laws" against farmers amid the pandemic situation. "Modi Govt wanted to stop the protest but the protest could not end but rather we are more united though Govt is not allowing farmers to enter Delhi. The rally of the CPI-M was not allowed to proceed to the Governor's house. However CPI-M protested on the spot at Circuit house.
