AGARTALA, June 21 (TIWN): In a major success, Tripura police unearthed, how a group of smugglers made an extra space in the car to smuggle contraband items. After recovering 173 kilo ganja from a tipper car, a cop said that it is generally not possible for police to find contraband items from such an artificially made place inside the car, but as Pecharthal police had information about smuggling of contraband items by that car, during naka-checking, this new technique of smuggling through tippers was unearthed. However, due to this exposure, a new technique of crimes was cracked by Tripura police with an alert on how rampant smuggling is going on in this state. Whether under seat cover or under any part of the vehicle, artificially crafted technique can throw dust in police's eyes. Talking to a police official, he said that if they did not have pre-information, it was impossible for them to trace any contraband items' stocks in the car. 

The raid was held in Kuarghat-Pecharthal road. The vehicle beating no- TR-01-AL-1710  was seized by police with 173 kilo ganja inside it. Car driver Rana Uria and his assistant Asish Bisai were detained and interrogated and it was known that the contraband items were being taken to Guwahati. 

In another drive Kailashahar police seized illegal liquor stocks at Churaibari, which were importing from Guwahati. Such incidents show that Assam Tripura smuggling trend has taken a sudden lift.

Based on secret information, a huge amount of cannabis was recovered from Pecharthal checking point.  According to details it is known on the basis of secret information, the police have been sitting in ambush on Kumarghat and Pecharathal National Highway since Monday morning. The vehicle registered Number- TR-01-AL-1710 was caught in a police trap while crossing the National Highway in Pancharathal area. In a search of the vehicle 183 kg of dried cannabis were recovered which had an estimated price Rs 17 lakhs.

The packaged cannabis was recovered by Kumarghat sub-divisional police officer Gamanjay Riang.  However, Police seized the cannabis recovered from the incident spot and arrested the vehicle driver Rana Uria and his accomplice Ashish Bisai. According to the SDPO, the seized cannabis was being taken to Guwahati in Assam from Tripura. The police are interrogating the detainees to get more information in this regard.
