‘IPFT will win TTAADC election- 2015 independently’

Agartala, Dec 16 (TIWN): Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT) would win the forthcoming Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC)- 2015 independently, said IPFT state vice-president Buddha Debbarma in a press meet at Agartala Press Club, here today.

Speaking in the press conference, he informed that a 4-member IPFT delegation led by state president NC Debbarma met with the Governor PB Acharya seeking free, fair and smooth TTAADC election- 2015. The IPFT also submitted a memorandum to the Governor with 3-point charter of demands.

In the memorandum, IPFT demanded for afresh delimitation of District Council Constituencies, the territorial adding that at present out of 28 District Council Constituencies, the territorial limit of some of the constituencies such as 9 Halahali-Asharam Bari (ST), 10 Kulai-Champahour (ST), 16 Mandwi-Pulinpur (ST), 19 Amtali-Golaghati (ST) and 22 Kathalia-MIrza-Rajapur (ST) has no geographical compactness, lack of facilities for easy communication and public convenience.

Referring security arrangements, there should be full security deployed in the entire scheduled areas with the state police, TSR and Central Paramilitary forces, said NC Debbarma.

“The polling booths especially earmarked as super sensitive and sensitive localities should be guarded, manned exclusively by the Central Para Military Forces, he added. In order to stop avoidable extraneous influences, poll counting of votes of all 28 Constituencies should be held in counting centers within ADC areas”, said Buddha.

He further stated that, altogether 184 IPFT representatives of Tripura went to Delhi Abhiyan and conducted sit-in-demonstration demanding separate state at Jantar Mantar from November 27 to 30, last. More than 500 people from different states had participated in the demonstration while 68 representatives had staged hunger strike with different demands, said Buddha.
