AGARTALA, June 13 (TIWN): Covid positive death, Amarpur Chandipara area locals obstructed to cremate, chaos generated in the area.

A person who had died of Covid positive was brought from the Ampi block area to Amarpur Chandipara crematorium for cremation but the local people obstructed it. Their claim is that the crematorium is in a densely populated area so the Covid positive cannot be cremated here. Also an agricultural field is around the crematorium and farmers work so the affected corpses should not be buried in the area. Later, Birganj PS, Police rushed to the spot upon receiving the news.

However the body was cremated at the Amarpur crematorium at the behest of Prashant Poddar, general secretary of the ruling party's Gomti district. Though no one dared to open their mouths when they saw the ruling party leader, a suppressed chaos was noticed among the people.
