AGARTALA, June 13 (TIWN): Acting on a tip-off, Belonia police recovered 4 pieces of railway track from Muzaffar Colony of Belonia Padua Panchayat. Inspector and OC of Belonia PS Smriti Kanta Bardhan said that the police had received information that the rails were found fallen into a drain near a house in Muzaffar Nagar around 10:45 am.
Upon receiving the news, the police rushed to the spot, recovered them, and brought the suspect to the police station for interrogation.
However, the police revealed that as the recovered items were found on the Indo-Bangla border in Bilonia it is believed to have been concealed there for smuggling purposes in Bangladesh.
Meanwhile, the locals claimed that thefts are happening in the Bilonia railway station on a daily basis but the police could never catch anyone. Besides, the role of the station guards is also assumed to be negligible especially during nights.
