AGARTALA, June 11 (TIWN): Aside from running an effective task within the state during the pandemic by distributing food and essential items among the people, providing a constant service to the COVID positive patients, MLA Sudip Roy Barman visited Billal Hossain’s house in Bishalgar today to see Billal’s 25-days old son who lost his mother due to the negligence of the IGM hospital blood bank on May 26.
Kohinoor Begum, the wife of Billal Hossain of Nadi Lakh area in Ward 1 of Chandanagar Gram Panchayat under Bishalgarh PS, died of blood crisis on May 26 after giving birth at IGM Hospital. However, Kohinoor’s husband alleged that despite there was enough stock of AB+ blood in the blood bank the authorities denied giving her that and after Billal arranged blood donors from his side, the staff made them wait for a long time and in the meantime, Kohinoor died due to lack of blood.
The news went viral on the internet within a short span but the present health minister who turns blind during difficult times showed no concern.
However, the former state health minister and MLA Sudip Roy Barman accompanied by MLA Ashish Saha and other activists visited Billal’s home to see the child in Bishalgarh’s Nadi Lak area on Friday and took out money from his pocket and handed it over to the father to take care of the child.
