Sadar administration destroys cannabis worth Rs. 1.10 crores

Agartala, Dec 14 (TIWN): In an anti-ganja drive jointly conducted by the Sadar sub-divisional administration, staffs of Excise department, staffs of Srinagar police station and jawans of 195 Bn Border Security Force (BSF), a vibrant ganja plantation consisting 19 plots on 5 acre lands, total 4430 plants worth Rs. 1.10 crore was destroyed at West Jarulbachai ADC village under Dukli RD Block, here today.

Acting on a  tip-off, the joint team headed by Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Sadar- Manik Lal Das conducted a raid at West Jarulbachai ADC village. Besides, Assistant Excise Commissioner- Keshab Sinha, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Srinagar police station- Dipal Rudra Pal, Assistant Commandant of 195 Bn BSF- Santosh Kumar, BSF Inspector- Prem Ram Kaja and Senior Excise Inspectors- Kishore Debbarma and Ranjit Poddar also took part in the anti-ganja operation today. During the raid, altogether 4430 ganja plants were destroyed by the joint team, said Das here, this evening.

“Based on specific input, the joint team carried out the raid at West Jarulbachai ADC village in between 12 pm to 5 pm today. During the raid, the joint team has discovered and destroyed the massive cannabis plantation at the interior place West Jarulbachai ADC village under Dukli RD Block. No arrest was made in this connection so far”, said Das. More such ganja plantations are located at the same area. We shall keep continuing anti-ganja raid randomly, he said.

According to Das, this kind of cannabis cultivation is being increased rapidly at such interior places like West Jarulbachai ADC village in past few years, said Das. It is worthy to mention here; in a raid, altogether 2916 ganja plants were destroyed at the same area on December 5.
