IPFT had called this Strike seeking proper action against the attackers on Minister NC Debbarma, who is the senior most leader in IPFT Party. 

"This attack was pre-planned and to defame the senior most leader like NC Debbarma this barbaric attack took place.........NC Debbarma is the most intellectual leader among us, was the Director of All India Radio too........We strongly condemn such ongoing hooliganism in state", Mebar Jamatia said on the background  of the Strike.

IPFT did not do any campaigning, no picketing was done but the Strike observation was up to the choice of the public, claimed IPFT party workers.
