AGARTALA, May 21 (TIWN): Theft, burglary, and pilferage took a steep rise in Tripura over the past three years and the Government schools located in the heart of the city are facing such problems severely.
In another attempt, on Friday morning two youth were caught by a local while stealing chairs from the famous Bani Vidyapith school. While the local boy of the area went away from the spot for a while to inform the incident to a school teacher, the thieves fled away.
Meanwhile, the School Management Committee members Parthajit Banik and a PG teacher of the school, Shyamal De said that such thefts are going in the school for the last 3-4 months. Sanitary items and other essential stuff got stolen before. Despite informing the police 10-12 times, no strict action was taken, and nor the police ever visit the place while patrolling at night.
Earlier, when the thieves stole the toilet taps, they informed the concerned department but the taps were not fixed due to which the toilets cannot be used. The SMC also wrote to the department to provide them a night guard but no such steps were taken as a result of which the theft incidents in this school has become very common now.
