AGARTALA, May 21 (TIWN): Kali Mandir priest Deepak Acharya of Bishalgarh’s Netaji Nagar abducted from the road and beaten severely by ruling party miscreants for opening mouth before the media against the councilor of the area.

When the Asha workers were conducting COVID test before the temple 2-days back, they threw their used PPE kit, masks, and other stuff which they were wearing during sample collection near the temple gate. Showing concern over this as the used PPE kit can spread the virus easily into the environment, the priest asked the workers to clean them and also to sanitize the spot. Deepak also took on the media to complain about this and mentioned the ward councilor, Laxmi Rana Saha, and district president Anjan Purkayastha’s name who were present there while the health department staff were conducting the COVID test.

Later a day, making this an issue, the ruling party goons of that area abducted the priest allegedly, took him to a house in Ward No. 8, and beaten him severely in front of the mondal leaders. Upon hearing the news, his wife rushed to the spot and somehow managed to rescue him.

However, the priest alleged that the ruling party youths were involved in the incident and he was threatened that he will be expelled from the work of the priests of this Kali temple in the coming days.
