AGARTALA, May 18 (TIWN): With the rate of corona infection increasing in the state and taking advantage of this pandemic, some unscrupulous traders in the city are continuing to increase the prices of daily necessities. Eventually, Food Director Tapan Das, ASDM Binoy Bhushan Das, Food Inspector Subrata Saha, and other officials raided a godown on Central Road after receiving allegations of a black market.
There is a rumor that the price of edible oil and mustard oil is being kept high in the market. To have a look at that, the team today came to check the distributors' godown.
“We have looked at the stock, which is sufficient for the next few months for the state people so there is no point to create a rush and increase the prices of the commodities unnecessarily. We also checked the list of the items sold to the sub-dealers on what price.” Said ASDM.
“We also received allegations of the black market running from this area so we will conduct the raid in all the godowns located here. Such operations would be carried out daily and action would be taken against the unscrupulous traders who planned to fill their pockets in times of misery disobeying the law”, he asserted.
