AGARTALA, May 18 (TIWN): Man committed suicide by hanging self with rope over family quarrel with his wife, the incident took place at Baruitali village ward No-4, of Chhantail Vill Panchayat under Chandipur block of Kailasahar.
Nikhil Das, 42 years old, an E-Rickshaw driver by profession has committed suicide by hanging himself in a tree 150 meters away at a forest from his house over family quarrel with his wife. Noticing Nikhil’s absence on Tuesday morning his family thought he might have gone out with an E-Rickshaw unlike every day. At around 7.30 am today morning, a woman from the same village was passing by the forest, she saw Nikhil’s dead body was hanging in a tree and started shouting.
Over hearing the woman’s shout came to the spot and saw Nikhil’s body was hanging. It is known Nikhil was the sole breadwinner in his family, he has wife, two daughters and a son, the eldest of his two daughters was married 1 year ago.
After seeing Nikhil’s dead body it was immediately informed to Kailasahar PS, but where the distance is only 7km from Baruitali village to Kailasahar PS, the police reached late at the spot, allegedly. Anger generated among locals over Police’s late arrival on the spot. Later the deceased's body was recovered and sent to morgue for an autopsy. Nikhil’s suicide has descended the shadow of mourning over the entire Baruitali village.
Details : E-rickshaw driver Nikhil Das (42 years), a permanent resident of Baruitali village under Chandipur block of Kailasahar in Unkoti district, committed suicide by hanging due to family unrest. The village head of Chhantail gram panchayat, Ajit Ghosh said that Nikhil and his wife often had fights. Even last night they had a serious argument over some issue. Unable to bear their regular fights, Nikhil hanged himself from a tree in a small forest 150 meters away from his house while everyone was asleep at home this morning. At around 7.30 in the morning, a woman from the village was passing by the forest with a cow when she saw his body hanging from the tree and shouted. Nikhil is survived by his wife, two daughters, and a son and was the only source of income for his family. His untimely demise cast a shadow of mourning over the entire Baruitali village. However, after seeing the dead body, the Kailasahar police were immediately informed but the police did not come till 10.30 am although the distance from Baruitali village to Kailasahar PS is only seven km, claimed the locals.
