AGARTALA, May 17 (TIWN): In the Haripur area of Rishyamukh block, the locals grabbed two government-supplied vehicles while unloading cement at the work assistant of the Rural Development Department Apu Vaidya's house.
Hearing the incident, Haripur Gram Panchayat chief Prantosh Debnath rushed to the spot along with the police while the Police recovered 200 bags of cement loaded in the trucks and 100 bags of cement and rods from the house.
Based on details, Apu was using government-supplied cement and rods to build his house in the Haripur area and the locals were watching his deeds for a long time. Waiting for the opportunity to catch up, today the people stopped the driver when he arrived before Apu’s house. Though the driver said that he brought those cement bags from Shantir Bazar yet the people asked him to show valid papers. Moreover, all the cement bags had “not for sale” written on them.
However the Police seized the two vehicles loaded with cement, and the locals demanded appropriate punishment for the theft of government materials and a proper investigation into the construction of his house.
