AGARTALA, May 17 (TIWN): Assembly of Journalists after a meeting has decided today that the members will meet the Chief Secretary before taking any final decision over their next step against ceasing of Cable Network's core in Agartala city by Biplab Deb Govt, which has stopped all local channels' broadcasting in Television.Â
After the meeting Sandyan newspaper Editor Subal Dey has condemned the role of Enforcement Dept. He said, knowing information is the right of the common men but till now even after requesting the Govt, the service was not restored. Thus the members will meet the Chief Secretary.
However, State Govt has not given any statement in this regard yet, but the Assembly of Journalists have called it another brutal attack on the freedom of press.
It has been alleged that while ceasing, no Court order was shown to the operator.
Sources said, there is an investigation (subject not known) against the owner but questions are being raised, whether any publication / broadcasting can be seized like this by depriving common men from getting information ? Is not it a direct attack on the press freedom ?
