AGARTALA, May 17 (TIWN): Back in 2018, During Communist Party Newspaper' Daily Desher Katha's RNI issue, though Biplab Deb Govt had ceased the publication, but it was restored in High Court's intervention. As per Senior Advocate Bikash Bhattacharjee's statement, Tripura High Court said that in no way, the 'publication' and 'freedom of press' can be curbed amid the legal issues can go parallelly.
But Biplab Deb Govt in a same style has allegedly attacked the Cable TV network broadcasting centre in Agartala, resulted the whole cable operation is stopped and people are unable to watch local TV channels.
However, State Govt has not given any statement in this regard yet, but the Assembly of Journalists have called it another brutal attack on the freedom of press.
It has been alleged that while ceasing, no Court order was shown to the operator.
Sources said, there is an investigation (subject not known) against the owner but questions are being raised, whether any publication / broadcasting can be seized like this by depriving common men from getting information ? Is not it a direct attack on the press freedom ?
