AGARTALA, May 13 (TIWN): A 7 day’s new born baby died allegedly due to medical negligence in Agartala Nursing Home at Post Office Chowmuhani, Agartala.
Talking to the family it is known a baby was born on 7th May with the symptoms of Jaundice as the baby was looking pale with yellowish colour. Noticing the baby's yellowish coloured body, the family requested many times the Doctors for Jaundice test but the Doctors neglected the test and said if the baby sleeps for a few hours the baby will be healed.

After repeated requests of the child's parents, the Doctors did not take any initiative to inspect the baby. Instead of providing proper treatment the newly born caesarean baby was discharged from hospital on the 3rd day of Caesarean surgery, i.e 10th May.
In case of newborn babies red blood cells begin to degrade as they are born, their liver is not strong enough to process Bilirubin. If the child is discharged within 72 hours of birth, then the baby must go through a Jaundice test. But here without Jaundice test Doctors discharged the baby on the 3rd day of birth, which causes the child to die.
However, such incidents are not new in our state. Questions are being raised that when the Health Minister and the concerned government officials will wake up from slumber and investigate these incidents?
The father of the died baby Suman Chakraborty said they will file a case against the Agartala Nursing Home for running business in the name of providing proper treatment to the patient.
