NEW DELHI / AGARTALA, May 9 (TIWN): Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is all set to be the next chief minister of the state after the BJP-led coalition won the Assembly elections held this year. According to sources in the party, Sarma’s name will be proposed by incumbent Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal in a meeting of the newly elected MLAs on Sunday afternoon. Same crisis situation is going on in Tripura too as the majority of the BJP MLAs have demanded a replacement of Biplab Deb from CM post. It is not only Tripura which is suffering due to massive infighting inside the BJP Party with increasing demand of replacing CM Biplab Deb but various states are facing similar situations. In Assam, the Govt formation is being delayed allegedly due to choosing CM among Sarbananda Sonowal and Himanta Biswa Sarma and in Tripura, majority of the MLAs are in demand of sacking of Biplab Deb from CM post after Sudip Barman was sacked by Biplab Deb backed State leadership from the Ministry. In Uttar Pradesh also, time to time, infighting news on report and one BJP MP has also written to CM Yogi about COVID management issue.

In Uttar Pradesh also, time to time, infighting news on report and one BJP MP has also written to CM Yogi about COVID management issue. Yesterday, Tripura BJP MLA Asish Das holding a press meet has announced that he will start an apolitical movement without any political interest against wrongdoings of the Govt under Biplab Deb. In case of non-BJP states also infighting is going on just like West Bengal suffers from same issue since BJP's defeat against Trinamool.

Biplab Deb's historical blunder was removal of Sudip Roy Barman from the cabinet, who is not only son of former Congress Chief Minister of Tripura but was the strongest opponent of the Communist and based on whom, Congress voters had voted for the BJP.

On Saturday, Sarma and Sonowal, both contenders for the top post, were in New Delhi to meet the BJP central leadership. Sarma visited Nadda’s residence, where he also met Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP general secretary (Organisation) B L Santhosh. A series of meetings, lasting for more than four hours, were held with Nadda and Shah with the duo, following which Sarma said that the BJP’s legislature party is likely to meet on Sunday and all questions related to the next government will be answered there. Both Sonowal and Sarma had gone together to Delhi on Saturday morning by a chartered flight and returned at night along with the central observers.
