AGARTALA, May 4 (TIWN): Throughout West Bengal Poll campaigning, Bengal leaders were seen multiple times bringing Tripura's reference to cite BJP's ruling style. The 10323 teachers and their miserable conditions played a significant role to down BJP's vote banks among the Govt employees there. A woman was seen in Amit Shah's rally screaming, "Will not allow Bengal to be another Tripura". In the same way, various leaders cited Tripura to exemplify what outcome can be if BJP assumes in power. West Bengal Food Minister Jyotipriya Mallick after Biplab Deb's visit in his constituency had slammed Tripura CM Biplab Deb for claiming development in Tripura. Calls Tripura BJP leaders "Thieves and Mafias". Ahead of the poll, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said, "The Bharatiya Janata Party is trying to replicate the Tripura-model in poll-bound West Bengal".

“Many people had abandoned the Congress and had helped the BJP to become more powerful and form the government in Tripura. The BJP think that they can apply the same formula in Bengal and form the government here with some traitors who left the TMC,” she said, while addressing a party meeting in Kolkata.  At least six former TMC MLAs, who were expelled by the party, switched over to the BJP ahead of the Tripura assembly polls in 2018. The six were earlier with the Congress and had joined the TMC in June 2016. The BJP won 36 out of the 60 seats in Tripura assembly and formed the government. The TMC could not win any seat.

“In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, when not many MLAs from the TMC and other parties had joined us, the BJP had won 18 Lok Sabha seats. So it is clear that the people of Bengal are now against the TMC and the party will lose the elections. In Tripura the six MLAs who joined the BJP were from TMC. She is ashamed to tell the truth,” said Rahul Sinha, veteran BJP leader and the party’s former national secretary.

Poll Results : The Trinamool Congress romped  home in West Bengal, pocketing 213 of the 292 assembly seats that went to polls and secured a third straight term in office, according to the final results announced by the Election Commission.  The Mamata Banerjee-led party's main challenger, the BJP, bagged 77 seats, while the ISF, which contested with the symbol of the Rashtriya Secular Majlis Party, and an Independent, managed one seat each.   The TMC had clinched 211 seats in 2016.  Though the BJP failed in its effort to dislodge Banerjee from power, it's for the first time that it will be the main opposition party in the state assembly, rising from a measly three seats in 2016 to 77.  The Left and the Congress, which ruled the state for decades, will this time have no representation as their alliance with the ISF the Samyukta Morcha mustered a vote share of less than 8 per cent.  Counting started at 8 am on Sunday and concluded around 1.55 pm on Monday, sources in the poll panel said.

Today however Biplab Deb said that in Tripura BJP has no opponent and BJP will go to people after fulfilling promises.
