Agartala, Dec 8 (TIWN): A delegation of Tribal Students’ Union (TSU), Central Committee today deputed Tribal Welfare Minister- Aghore Debbarma and placed a memorandum with 9-point charter of demands.
The 9-point demands are: To release the pending pre-metric and post-metric scholarships immediately. To set up a boys hostel for the students of General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) and to release the due stipends of ST girl students (GNM) for the session 2012-13, 2013-14.
Stipend should be introduced instead of giving scholarship to the ST (GNM) students and to hike the intern stipends as well. To construct boys hostel for TSATC students and 100-bed girls hostel for the students of class-XI and XII in Agartala.
TSU also demanded chair, table, bed, dining table and essential furniture immediately in the ST hostels across the state and to extend the last date of submission of stipend form online. At least one residential school in each block area must be established.
Admission of students belong to BPL families in every Eklabya schools must be ensured and to restore electricity connection in the hostels which are disconnected due to pending bills.
During the deputation, Debbarma assured the TSU delegation to take proper initiative to fulfill their demands shortly.
