AGARTALA, Nov 27 (TIWN): After more than 2 and half years of BJP Govt's formation in Tripura, pre-election promise about regularization of contractual workers, yet could not be fulfilled led the contractual Health Workers to go in strike today. This strike has been called on for an indefinite period. Due to the strike, Health Services have been effected although the leaders of the agitators have ensured now that there will be no disruption to the the emergency services. Talking to Secretary of Tripura Contractual Workers Ratan Debnath has said that the workers are demanding regularization from many days and in this regard many applications were submitted. The Health Dept authority has told them that the file was moved to CM Biplab Deb but now nothing can be said and sought more times. The contractual employees sat in agitation are with DRW, Casual, DRB staffs.
Around thousand workers are in contractual jobs under DRW, Casual and DRB but already 40 to 50 workers already died without getting any benefit from the Govt. The workers' demands also include the deceased workers rights and compensation as per regular employees to the families.​
