AGARTALA, Nov 21 (TIWN): Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb's latest claim on 18,500 job recruitments under Govt sectors in last 2 and half years has been trolled in social media and the opposition has sought data on employment generation, rubbishing CM's claim. Opposition also asked, whether those recruitments were done with interviews or not ? The statement from opposition came on Friday, after Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb while addressing in a cooperative units programme has claimed that his Govt has given around 18,500 jobs among unemployed people. "Either contractual or regular, Govt has arranged around 18,500 jobs or job procedures. If anyone can show me any other govt could give such numbers of jobs, I will stand before him by catching my ears", said Deb.

As per CMIE data, Tripura's unemployment rate is 17.4% which is highest in Northeast, whereas the neighboring state Assam's unemployment rate is just 1.2%. Nationally Tripura's position is 3rd after Uttarakhand which has recorded 22.3% in last month and Haryana whose unemployment rate is 19.7%. This is the data of September month, 2020, published by CMIE today on November 1st, 2020. Tripura recently met a loss of around 8,000 jobs from teaching profession as 10323 teachers lost jobs but the State Govt has set a goal of recruiting highest 4,000 per year. BJP before 2018 Assembly Election however, had promised about recruiting 50,000 unemployed youths in vacant positions.
