AGARTALA, Nov 6 (TIWN): Crime spree in Tripura has paralyzed the law and order across the State and fear of law and police is not at all working in criminals' minds. In such a condition, when State is yet to overcome from the shock of open sexual harassment of a singer, one more Baul singer and her family have been attacked. The accused persons are now absconding. The victim singer has been identified as Manti Acharjee. The incident took place at the ONGC area under Amtali PS. As per Manti Acharjee's statement, her house owner who is infamously known as a part of local miscreants and was pressuring for rents amid COVID-19 situations came today morning also. Although amid tight conditions, the family was anyhow managing the rent for few months but the total rent had not been cleared.
In this condition house owner Jadu Mani Sarkar today morning rushed to her home seeking rent and started throwing all items from home in mafia style. Then Jadu Mani Sarkar's son Naren Sarkar rushed to the spot and with sharp weapons started beating all the family members.
He also used sticks to hit Manti Acharjee's husband. She was beaten after throwing her on ground and he used "da" to hit her which has damaged a portion of her face also nearing her eyes.
Even her younger son was also beaten. The family has sought justice. As the rent giver is known as a powerful person of that locality, the family have requested police to do the investigation neutrally. But, both the accused persons are now absconding.
